The day after Cyber Monday, Amazon still has the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro at its record-low pricing of $1,349 for the 512GB model in silver or space black. That's a $250 drop from its $1,599 MSRP, and one of our favorite leftover Cyber Monday Apple deals. SEE ALSO: Cyber Monday 2025: Live updates on deals still live from Amazon, Apple, Best Buy, Walmart, and more A 16% discount doesn't exactly sound huge on its face in the grand scheme of Black Friday. But a 16% discount on a MacBook that hasn't even been out for two months? Considering that M5 iPad Pro discounts maxed out at 10% off, we'll definitely take Amazon's MacBook offering here.So why choose the 2025 M5 MacBook over the 2024 M4? For starters, opting for the slower 2024 M4 right now wouldn't save you any money — the model with 16GB Unified Memory and 512 GB SSD (same specs as the M5 we're highlighting here) is on sale at Amazon for $1,357.77. By snatching up the M5 while it's technically a few dollars cheaper, you're bringing home up to 20 percent faster computing, zippier Cyberpunk-approved graphics handling, and new Neural Accelerators for all sorts of improvements upon AI performance. "At this point, Apple is just showing off," Mashable Tech Editor Timothy Beck Werth noted when testing the M5 MacBook Pro.

Galaxy Z TriFold: Specs, features, price

Can't choose between a new smartphone or a new tablet? Well, Samsung has made your decision pretty easy then by saying: Why not both with the new Galaxy Z TriFold?Samsung finally made its trifold phone official. That's right, a trifold phone that's called the TriFold because it has three display panels with two hinges that fold out into a 10-inch display. That's a tablet-sized screen, the largest ever on a Galaxy phone, wrapped into a foldable smartphone. SEE ALSO: Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold vs Apple foldable iPhone: Specs and rumors While the big Dynamic 2X AMOLED display, with its 2160 x 1584 resolution and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, works as one large singular screen, the device can also be configured to work as if it's three 6.5-inch smartphones. Users can simultaneously run three different portrait-sized apps on each panel side-by-side. With that said, users can drag and drop files across all three screens as the TriFold still performs as a single device. When folded, Samsung fans will be able to use the TriFold’s outer screen, with its 6.5-inch 2520 x 1080 resolution display just like a non-foldable smartphone. With a 200 MP camera and powered by the customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, the Galaxy Z TriFold still manages to be fairly thin when folded out, ranging from 4.2mm to 3.9mm in thickness at its thinnest point. When folded, the TriFold does balloon in size, measuring in at 12.9mm thick. The Galaxy Z TriFold is also the first smartphone that can run Samsung DeX, which basically enables users to turn their mobile device into a desktop PC-like experience.Unlike many other unique smartphones that never get released in the United States, Samsung is bringing the Galaxy Z TriFold to the U.S. in the first quarter of 2026.The only real question left about the Galaxy Z TriFold is how much it'll cost for Americans. Samsung has not yet shared a price for the TriFold when it launches in the U.S. next year. However, the TriFold will be in stores much sooner in South Korea. When it goes on sale there on December 12, 2025, consumers will be paying roughly $2,500 for the foldable device. It's unclear if Samsung will keep that same pricing structure for the U.S. market, but with the TriFold hitting U.S. shelves sometime over the next few months, we'll soon find out.

SAVE $151.99: The Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones are still on sale at Amazon for $248, down from the normal price of $399.99. That's a 38% discount that matches the lowest we've ever seen and the Cyber Monday sale price. Opens in a new window Credit: Sony Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones $248 at Amazon $399.99 Save $151.99   Get Deal Sorry to say but Cyber Monday is officially over and many of the great deals vanished when the clocked struck midnight. But if you're still looking for great deals, The Home Depot set their own calendar this year and the retailer's sale is still live today. Aside from that, there are a few great deals lingering about and one of the highlights is this epic deal on Sony headphones. As of Dec. 2, the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones are still on sale at Amazon for $248, marked down from the list price of $399.99. That's a massive 38% discount that takes $151.99 off the price. It also matches the lowest we've ever seen and the Cyber Monday sale price. Not long ago, Sony dropped the new XM6 headphones and yes, they're amazing. The only hitch is the price tag of the XM6 which currently sits at $398 thanks to the Amazon sale. Instead, you might consider the slightly older but definitely still awesome Sony XM5 headphones, and those are on sale for $248. That means you're savings about $150 by going with the older model. SEE ALSO: Last chance to score Apple AirPods for under $100 — save $80 after Cyber Monday Mashable lead shopping reporter Bethany Allard compared the new XM6 to the XM5 and wrote, "The XM6 headphones bring some updates in the form over improved sound and folding ear cups, but nothing too major over the past generation."One of the only things you're missing out on with opting for the XM5 headphones is earcups that don't fold up. They also have a slightly less warmer sound compared to the XM6 headphones, according to Allard's experience. The battery life on the XM5 is identical to that of the XM6, as is the charging time. They also weigh a bit less. Allard mentioned she didn't notice a major difference in noise-cancellation ability with the older mode, so you should be set in that respect.Overall, this still-live Cyber Monday price on the Sony XM5 headphones is a great opportunity to snag excellent headphones at the lowest price we've ever seen. Since Cyber Monday is technically over, we recommend jumping on this deal soon since it might disappear in a hurry.

All the states and countries that have age-verification laws (so far)

Age-verification laws have swept the world in recent years. These rules, also known as age assurance or age checks, often require websites that contain a certain (or any) amount of explicit content to confirm that users are over 18. But it's not just checking a "yes or no" box anymore. Many of these laws require personal data, such as a photo of a government ID or a facial recognition scan, to access parts of the internet. SEE ALSO: Porn censorship is going to destroy the entire internet While the purported aim of these laws is to keep minors from seeing porn, experts have told Mashable for years that age verification doesn't work for that intended purpose. This is because website companies based in other countries may not comply, or citizens may attempt to circumvent these laws using VPNs (or, in the case of the UK's Online Safety Act, by using images of video game characters). Early research out of NYU has suggested that age verification doesn't work, as well.Experts also state the digital privacy and security issues that could arise from submitting so much personal information to various websites. One is identity theft, should bad actors obtain access to this data, such as through a phishing scam pretending to be a verification system for a porn site. Another is a lack of access to parts of the internet entirely if someone doesn't have an ID, which could widen the digital divide. SEE ALSO: The best hookup apps, reviewed: I swiped until my thumb hurt Yet, these laws are spreading throughout the world. Here's a breakdown of the states and countries with age verification laws (so far). United StatesThe United States is distinct in that age-verification laws have been implemented on a state-by-state basis, as opposed to a federal one. While you're not able to access Pornhub in Virginia, for instance, you can drive up to Maryland and browse all you'd like. Since Louisiana enacted its age verification law in 2023, similar bills have popped up across the country. Then, in 2025, the Supreme Court ruled that these laws are constitutional, essentially ensuring that more states will implement them as well, experts told Mashable at the time.States with enacted age verification laws as of this publication, according to the adult industry trade organization the Free Speech Coalition, are:AlabamaArizonaArkansasFloridaGeorgiaIdahoIndianaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaOhioOklahomaSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahVirginiaWyomingUnited KingdomThe Online Safety Act, which contains the UK's age-verification clause, went into effect in July 2025. Sites and apps must use one of several methods to assure someone's age, such as taking their banking information, matching a photo with an ID, or scanning their face. The UK's communication regulatory agency, Ofcom, stated that it will fine up to  £18 million or 10 percent of qualifying worldwide revenue (whichever is greater) for sites that don't comply. Since then, "SFW" sites, from dating apps to Spotify and YouTube, have or will implement age checks in the region (and others). Controversial sites 4chan and Kiwi Farms have sued Ofcom, stating they shouldn't need to comply as they operate outside the UK.FranceFrance's age verification law, which requires explicit sites to have a third-party system to confirm users' ages, went into effect in June 2025. It also must be "double-blind," meaning the porn site can't know the visitors' age, while the verification system can't know the site the visitor is looking at.Soon after it was enacted, though, the law was briefly suspended until it was deemed legal by EU law. But in July, France's highest court — the Council of State — annulled the suspension. This caused back and forth with Pornhub, which initially blocked itself in the country, then reinstated itself during that period, only to block itself again after the law's suspension was revoked. ItalyStarting November 12, Italy will enact age verification for pornographic sites. Last Friday, Italy's communications agency, AGCOM, released a list of 45 websites that must implement age verification systems to continue functioning in the country, or receive a warning and fines up to 250,000 Euros. The list includes Pornhub and OnlyFans. AGCOM stated on its website that a certified independent third party must verify users' ages, doing so in two steps (identification and authentication of the identified person) — and it has to happen every session. When dealing with an app, a separate app must age-verify like a digital ID wallet app.AustraliaThis law looks a little different than that of other countries, but its purpose is the same. Australia's age-verification law states that at the end of this year, people will have to verify their ages when logged into their Google or Microsoft accounts and using those search engines. These engines must have tools or settings like "safe search," where explicit content must be filtered out entirely. The highest safety setting must be the default for account holders for whom the age assurance system indicates are likely children. If age assurance can't be done, explicit material must be blurred. ChinaPornography is currently illegal in China, so its age-verification systems also look different. The country has strict age restrictions for video games, livestreaming and video-sharing platforms, payment processors, and social media. Users must undergo Real Name Verification, which requires providing their name and ID number to access these services. Depending on the app, users may have to give more information too, such as their phone number, bank account, and a facial recognition scan. This list will likely grow longer, and Mashable will update it when it does. Ofcom's group director for online safety, Oliver Griffiths, told Mashable back in June that age verification for porn sites was a "global issue" and sought to instill global norms. It seems that's well on the way. UPDATE: Dec. 2, 2025, 11:49 a.m. EST The U.S. list has been updated to add Missouri.

Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold vs Apple foldable iPhone: Specs and rumors

Samsung has a new recruit in the foldable trenches, while Apple is set to join them soon. On Monday, Samsung announced the Galaxy Z TriFold, an oft-rumored foldable phone with two hinges and a gigantic inner display. It's coming to the U.S. in early 2026, and people are excited. However, Apple is also said to be working on a foldable iPhone, potentially set for launch in 2026, as well. With that in mind, let's take what we know about both devices and compare them. SEE ALSO: Samsung finally makes the Galaxy Z TriFold official, announces U.S. release window Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold vs. Apple iPhone Fold: Specs It's like a regular phone! Credit: Samsung It's worth mentioning that only one of these devices has been officially announced. Therefore, we only have real specs for Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold right now. Here's how they shake out: 10-inch main display with 2160x1584 resolution and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate6.5-inch cover display with 2520x1080 resolution and 120Z adaptive refresh rateSnapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset16GB RAM512GB/1TB storage5,600mAh batteryThree rear cameras: 200MP wide, 12MP ultra-wide, 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoomIn case you haven't been following the news, the main selling point of Samsung's new device is that it folds twice. It has two hinges that, when unfolded, open up a gargantuan 10-inch display with a 4K-ish resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It's also got a 6.5-inch outer display so you can use it like a regular phone and put it in your pockets, similar to how the single-hinged Galaxy Z Fold 7 works.Like I said, we unfortunately don't have nearly as much firm information about the rumored iPhone Fold right now. The latest reports suggest that Apple has mastered some kind of "creaseless" design, which would be huge. Recent foldables, such as the ones from Samsung, have made great strides in reducing the visibility of the crease in the unfolded display, but if Apple could truly eliminate that, it would really be onto something. To be clear, this is expected to be a single-hinged device, like most foldables. Some reports have suggested that it will have a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer display, making it significantly smaller than the Galaxy Z TriFold. As for cameras, the Galaxy Z TriFold has a fairly standard set of lenses, relative to other Samsung flagships. You get three on the back and one on the front, with highlights including a 200MP main shooter and a telephoto lens on the back. We don't know the exact specs for the iPhone Fold's cameras yet, but it's thought to have four lenses just like the Samsung phone. However, they'll be arranged differently; there will be two on the back and, for reasons that will surely become clear when the device is actually shown, two on the front. Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold vs. Apple iPhone Fold: Everything else we know, or don't knowSadly, that's about all we have on both phones in terms of hard information. Samsung's device doesn't have a firm U.S. release date or price yet. One recent report suggested the iPhone Fold could cost as much as $2,399, which would be a lot, even for a foldable. One thing we do know about Samsung's foldable is that it's thin, like the other phones Samsung launched in 2025. Samsung says it measures in at just 4.2mm of thickness when unfolded. One recent report said the iPhone Fold will resemble two iPhone Airs strapped together, so expect that device to be thin, as well.If you're excited about the Galaxy Z TriFold, you have only a few months of waiting left. If you're excited about the iPhone Fold, well...patience is a virtue.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is the Metroid you want 90 percent of the time

A lot has happened in the 18 years since Metroid Prime 3: Corruption launched.A generation-defining financial crisis, Donald Trump somehow getting elected president twice, and the entire existence of the Marvel Cinematic Universe come to mind. Most pertinent to Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, however, is the way big-budget video games have evolved. Unless you’re Dark Souls, it’s broadly unacceptable for players to get lost or feel too alone, two things that are generally considered key to the Metroid experience. Metroid Prime 4 feels, at times, like it’s trying to fit a square peg into a round hole; it’s got all the major ingredients you want from the series, but also small doses of quippy, overly helpful sidekicks and open-world traversal. And the craziest part is that, dangit, it actually works pretty well. After an abrasive and uncomfortable opening hour, Metroid Prime 4 rounds into form, feeling like the Metroid Prime of old for a large majority of its 15 to 20 hour runtime. Even with the presence of chatty human NPCs, Metroid Prime 4 is a worthy addition to your Nintendo Switch 2 library, thanks to gorgeous art direction, adequately satisfying exploration, and a totally kick-ass motorcycle.Yes, Myles McKenzie sucks As much as I like Metroid Prime 4, it really needs to be stated that the first hour or so plays like a tribute to the “we’re so back/it’s so over” meme. Samus Aran’s first mainline 3D adventure since the Bush administration opens with a combat-and-setpiece-heavy intro that doesn’t really feel like Metroid. Twenty minutes later, however, Samus is walking around a desolate alien planet called Viewros that’s full of beautiful, awe-inspiring ruins of a dead civilization, which very much feels like Metroid. Before long, you’re exploring a visually resplendent jungle and acquiring new powers to aid in exploration. And then Galactic Federation engineer Myles McKenzie enters the picture. I and many others have already covered how discordant it feels for a stumbling, bumbling, and goofy voice-acted sidekick to be in Samus’s ear for any amount of time. It flatly isn’t good, and is the primary thing holding me back from wholeheartedly praising Metroid Prime 4. There are other human NPCs you’ll meet throughout the adventure, all of whom fit into pretty basic fictional soldier archetypes. Most of them aren’t as annoying as McKenzie, but their presence is still generally a little burdensome.Having said all of that...there are moments that are legitimately kind of charming, here and there, even if I can't always tell if they're intentional or not. I particularly enjoy how everyone around Samus thinks she's really cool (correctly so) and wants to be her friend, but all she ever does is stare at them and occasionally nod in response. That made me laugh numerous times, if nothing else. But it’s a smooth ride after that early speed bump Some of the environments are stunning. Credit: Nintendo I imagine some of you will read that, decide Metroid Prime 4 is beyond saving, and move on with your life. I can’t stop you. Go with God, as they say. This is a matter of personal priorities; to some, Metroid is about loneliness first and foremost. To me, it’s about seeing an odd-colored door, making a mental note of it, and coming back later when you have the weapon or item that opens said door.If you’re like me and can grin and bear the early stages of the game, before McKenzie sets up a base camp and only sparingly chimes in over comms for the rest of its duration, you’ll find that Metroid Prime 4 is largely the Metroid Prime you remember. That means the overwhelming majority of your time will be spent trawling through abandoned research facilities, scanning computer terminals, finding the occasional power-up, and taking on a collection of generally excellent boss fights. When nobody is talking at you (which, I must stress, is most of the time), the sense of atmosphere is a delight, assisted by percussive music and perhaps the best visuals on Switch 2 so far, including a flawless frame rate.I particularly liked the Ice Belt, a haunting, frozen-over facility where Samus’s arm cannon gradually gathers a coat of frost as you explore. While a couple of the areas in Prime 4 are a little more linear than I’d like, Ice Belt feels like Metroid Prime at its best, with level design that incentivizes careful observation and fun Morph Ball shortcuts that make the entire area satisfyingly fold in on itself over time. All of Prime 4’s bespoke levels really shine on your second run through them, once you’ve gotten all the abilities and can freely unlock every secret there is to find. I think the most fun I had with this game was when I did this, right before setting off for the climactic final confrontation. I am very pleased to report that this game still has the Metroid juice most of the time.Zooming around the desert Vi-O-La rocks. Credit: Nintendo That said, Metroid Prime 4 also finds time to carve out its own space in the series, and the main way it does that is through the Sol Valley, a big desert area that acts as a hub connecting the levels, and Vi-O-La, a super sick motorcycle you unlock early on to traverse the wastes. You’ll spend a decent chunk of Prime 4 speeding across the desert, which, well, looks like a desert. I imagine this will ruffle some feathers out there, but I’m in favor of it for a few reasons. One is that Sol Valley is easily the loneliest area in the game, as it’s the one place where (for the most part) Samus is free to operate at her leisure without needing to link up with any of her new allies. Vi-O-La itself is also a lot of fun to drive, especially once you unlock auxiliary boost charges that let you really zoom around the place.Yes, a lot of it is empty, though that doesn’t mean it’s without secrets to find. I actually dig this because I’m a sucker for vast spaces in games where every inch isn’t necessarily meant to be interacted with. So often, video game worlds feel like theme parks where everything exists for the enjoyment of the player. Sol Valley uses its big empty spaces to communicate the desolation that Viewros has suffered pretty well, I think. As a bonus, even though it’s shaped like an open-world map, it’s mostly bereft of the kind of map icon vomit you’d find in something like Assassin’s Creed. There aren’t a million disposable side activities and collectibles here. When you find something, it really feels like you’ve found something. It’s also a cleaner way to link together the various levels than in Prime 3, a game whose various zones felt disconnected from one another. Everything feels fairly contiguous here, even if it’s not quite as Metroid-y as the elevator-based travel in the original Prime. It doesn’t approach the OG Metroid Prime, but that’s fine Look at the frost on the gun. Credit: Nintendo One detail that might drag Prime 4 down in the eyes of some players is that it’s not the first game, which is legitimately one of the finest 3D action-adventure games ever made. That’s a really lofty and, I would argue, unfair standard to hold anything to, especially considering the rocky development cycle Prime 4 went through. I am here to tell you that Prime 4 is not as good as the original. It’s not as lonely and the level design isn’t quite as elaborate. I have a couple of other small quibbles, too, like a relative lack of cool suit changes and the fact that too many of the abilities you unlock are things that have been in previous Metroid games. But that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. It’s easy and reasonable to be apprehensive about the first Prime game in nearly two decades. I get it, I really do, especially considering the pre-release whiplash of finding out Myles McKenzie exists. But if you can find it within yourself to give Prime 4 an earnest shot, like I did, you might just find that hopping into Samus’s power suit is every bit as enjoyable as it was on the GameCube and Wii. It’s good to have Samus back, if nothing else.Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on Dec. 4.

When Spotify Wrapped 2025 comes out, how to view it

Do you even have good taste in music if you can't share it online? If you're a Spotify user, of course, that's not really a concern: It's become a yearly tradition to share your music taste with Spotify Wrapped. As we inch toward the end of October, Wrapped should be coming soon. That means you'll be able to share your taste, top songs, favorite albums, and most beloved artists with all of your friends, whether they want to see it or not. To be clear, the 2025 version of Wrapped hasn't been released yet, but the wait shouldn't be too long. Here's what we know. When will Spotify Wrapped be released? The short answer is: We don't know, exactly. The slightly longer answer is: We don't know, but we have an educated guess when it will be.Last year, Wrapped dropped on Wednesday, Dec. 4. That was the first Wednesday after Thanksgiving. In 2023, it was released on Wednesday, Nov. 29. That was — you guessed it — the first Wednesday after Thanksgiving. Should the pattern hold, that means 2025 Spotify Wrapped would be released on Wednesday, Dec. 3. That's not a guarantee, by any means, but you can likely expect Wrapped to drop around that time, at the very least. SEE ALSO: Why artists are leaving Spotify — and how you can, too How to view Spotify WrappedIt shouldn't be difficult to find your Wrapped on the day it releases. You'll likely get a notification letting you know it's ready. The Spotify app, typically speaking, also places a banner or section within your homepage that is hard to miss. Should all that fail, you can also head to the Wrapped section on Spotify's website. The internet will certainly love the day Wrapped drops, but for now, we're still left waiting.
