EBA ESG risk dashboard shows stable climate risk exposures and continued improvements in data quality
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published its latest Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risk dashboard, showing continued stability in banks’ transition and physical climate risk indicators across the EU/EEA in second half of 2025. The results also indicate gradual improvements in the availability and quality of climate-related data, particularly for energy efficiency assessments of mortgage portfolios, supporting more robust climate risk monitoring in the banking sector.
The EBA consults on reporting framework for validation and monitoring of ISDA Standard Initial Margin Model
The European Banking Authority (EBA) is consulting on a new reporting framework to support the validation and ongoing monitoring of initial margin models based on the ‘Standard Initial Margin Model’ (SIMM) developed by the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA). The proposed reporting requirements will provide the EBA with information necessary to effectively perform its role as central validator of pro forma models under EMIR, while ensuring a proportionate approach for reporting entities. The consultation runs until 2 November 2026.
The EBA publishes a no-action letter and technical considerations to support the implementation of the market risk framework for EU banks
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published a no-action letter on the boundary between the banking book and the trading book and shared technical clarifications on issues linked to the European Commission’s Delegated Act modifying the calculation of own funds requirements for market risk based on the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB) framework. The measures support a consistent and harmonised implementation of the revised framework across the EU.

The European Banking Authority (EBA) today launched four public consultations on proposed rules to further strengthen depositor protection, preserve financial stability, and further harmonise depositor protection standards across the EU under the revised Deposit Guarantee Schemes Directive (DGSD3). The EBA seeks stakeholders’ feedback on Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) on depositor information, ITS on information exchange between credit institutions, Deposit Guarantee Schemes (DGSs) and other relevant authorities, Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) on the treatment of client funds protection standards across the EU, and Guidelines (GL) on how DGSs should invest funds collected from the industry. The four consultations run until 23 October 2026.

The standards aim to support banking consolidation and deepen EU market integration by clarifying supervisory expectations, reducing regulatory uncertainty, and promoting a consistent prudential assessment framework across the European Union.
The EBA consults on amendments to data collection for the 2027 market risk benchmarking exercise
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today launched a consultation on amendments to the Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) governing the benchmarking of internal models and the standardised approach for market risk for the 2027 exercise. The EBA issues Opinion on the implementation of IFRS 18 in supervisory financial reporting to support consistency with IFRS requirements
The European Banking Authority (EBA) has published today an Opinion providing guidance on how institutions can report profit or loss information during the interim period between the first application date of IFRS 18 and the first application date of the amending Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) on supervisory financial reporting (FINREP), which are currently under consultation. The Opinion aims to support institutions by avoiding the operational burden of maintaining two different profit or loss formats during the transition period. The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published its annual dataset on losses and exposures for residential and commercial immovable property across the European Union and European Economic Area for 2025, in line with Article 430a(3) of the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR). The publication provides a centralised and harmonised source of data on losses and exposures relating to residential and commercial immovable property across the EU/EEA. The data are drawn from supervisory reporting submitted by institutions and are presented by national immovable property market.
Targeted EBA peer review finds high compliance on Pillar 3 disclosures but calls for greater consistency
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published the results of its targeted Peer Review on the supervision of compliance with the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR) and the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD) provisions aiming to facilitate market discipline through bank disclosure (“Pillar 3”). The Review found that the competent authorities under review have fully or largely embedded Pillar 3 requirements into their supervisory frameworks and that their practices are efficient overall. Consistency across jurisdictions could, however, improve.
The EBA launches consultation on key performance indicators of Taxonomy disclosures
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published a Discussion Paper on certain key performance indicators (KPIs) and other aspects of the Disclosures Delegated Act, under Article 8 of the Taxonomy Regulation. The aim is to consult the public on potential measures to simplify and enhance the usability of information disclosed by credit institutions and investment firms. The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published revised Guidelines on product oversight and governance (POG) for retail banking products. They clarify requirements for products with environmental, social and governance (ESG) features whenever offered and sold to consumers and address greenwashing risks. The Guidelines aim to ensure that financial institutions apply robust standards when designing and distributing ESG-related retail products, with a view to reducing the risk of consumers being misled or sold products that do not meet their needs.
