Q3 review: superb Games kick-off, chg. est & PT
Topic: ZEAL released better than expected Q3 results with strong billings
and sales driven by heightened jackpots and user activity. More
importantly, the Games roll-out came in strong.
The first-time impact of Games came in much stronger than anticipated with
€ 16.7m in billings (vs eNuW: € 2.5m), showing that demand for the new
product is high. This impact should further increase as Q4 Games billings
are seen at € 19m (eNuWold: € 4.5m). Consequently, we also significantly
raise our FY'24e billings estimate to € 80m (old: € 46m), but stay at a €
10m sales contribution due to a reduced gross margin estimate.
Billings from Lottery came in at € 221m, up 19% yoy (eNuW: € 213m; 9M: €
633m, +16% yoy) thanks to an increased user activity of 1.22m monthly
active users (eNuW: 1.15m MAU) coupled with average monthly lottery
revenues per user of € 7.44 (eNuW: € 7.99). The increase in user activity
was driven by the strong Lotto 6aus49 in Q3, which peaked twice in a row.
Sales arrived at € 31m, +24% yoy (eNuW: € 29m; 9M: € 86m, +16% yoy) thanks
to the strong Lottery billings as well as the stellar debut of Games (€
1.2m, 7% gross margin; eNuW: € 0.6m, 22% gross margin). The lower than
expected Games gross margin was due to the still small portfolio of only 28
games so far and is expected expand to 12.5% in FY24e thanks to the
continuous addition of higher margin games (see p. 2 for details).
The EBITDA of € 9.4m, +68% yoy (eNuW: € 8.1m; 9M: € 23.1m, +5% yoy), came
in much better than expected thanks to operating leverage as total OpEx
(including personnel & marketing expenses) only rose by 11% yoy to € 22m
(eNuW: € 21.5m).
Against this backdrop and given an average jackpot development in Q4, the
FY23 guidance seems well in reach: Lottery billings of € 800-830m could
even be exceeded (eNuW: € 841m), whereas sales of € 110-120m (eNuW: € 115m)
and an EBITDA of € 30-35m (eNuW: € 33m) should be reached between mid-point
and the upper end.
Hence, we reiterate our BUY recommendation for the structural outperformer
with lots of growth potential in the German lottery market and raise our PT
to € 51.00 (old: € 50.00) based on DCF.

Top and bottom line recovery in full swing, est. & PT chg.
Westwing released strong Q3 results and lifted its FY 2023 adj. EBITDA
guidance. Q3 sales increased by 5.2% yoy to € 92.9m (eNuW: € 91.3m),
indicating a sequential improvement versus Q2 (-1.2% yoy). Sales in DACH
returned to growth (3.6% yoy vs. -5.5% yoy in Q2), while International
improved sequentially to 6.5% yoy (vs. 5.6% yoy in Q2). Following several
quarters of decline, the number of active customers grew by 0.8% qoq to
1.26m (vs. -1% qoq in Q2). Westwing was able to boost share of wallet by
increasing GMV per customer by 6% yoy to € 377, demonstrating Westwing's
loyal customer base and fruitful efforts to improve customer experience and
product offering.
Adj. EBITDA was better than expected and came in at € 2.4m (eNuW: € -0.4m)
versus € -4.4m in Q3 22, delivering the fourth profitable quarter in a row
and reflecting that efficiency measures are bearing fruit and the company
successfully increases its private label share (48% of GMV in Q3 vs. 44% in
Q3 2022). Consequently, adj. EBITDA margin rose by 7.6pp yoy to 2.6% and
FCF strongly improved to € 3m in Q3 (vs. € -1m in Q3 22) mainly driven by
more efficient working capital.
Westwing confirmed its FY 2023 revenue guidance, still expecting the upper
half of its sales target, ranging from -9% to 2% yoy or € 390 to 440m (eNuW
new: € 438m, eCons new: € 432.7m). However, the company raised its FY 2023
adj. EBITDA guidance (previously € 4 - 13m) and now expects to achieve an
adj. EBITDA of € 13 - 19m for the full year (eNuW new: € 20m, eCons new: €
14.2m) with a margin of 3 - 4.6% (eNuW new: 4.5%, eCons new: 3.3%). The
lifted adj. EBITDA guidance is based on stronger than expected preliminary
October results and hence a better outlook for Q4 2023. FCF is expected to
turn significantly positive in FY 2023 (eNuW: € ~20m) driven by improved
profitability and lower inventory levels.
Overall, Westwing’s better-than-expected Q3 results indicate that the
company seems to have passed the trough. During the earnings call,
management reaffirmed its view that the company is on track to continue top
and bottom line yoy growth in Q4 2023 thanks to promising indications from
OneWestwing and ongoing efficiency measures. Given that Q4 is typically
Westwing’s strongest quarter, FY 2023 adj. EBITDA guidance looks
conservative, in our view.
BUY, changed PT € 19.00 (old: € 18.00), based on DCF.

Fully on track despite mixed Q3; chg. est.
MAX delivered mixed results for Q3 2023, with sound top-line growth but
pressure on margins. Q3 group sales rose slightly by 1.4% yoy to € 109.1m
(Q3 2022: € 107.6m) while Q3 EBITDA fell sharply by 35% yoy to € 9.6m (Q3
2022: € 14.8m). Hence, the EBITDA margin declined by 4.9pp yoy to 8.8%.
However, Q3 2022 was an extraordinarily strong quarter and compared to the
FY 2022 EBITDA margin, the current Q3 margin is still 0.6pp higher. The
postponement of some larger orders was the main reason for the margin
decrease, while also burdening top-line growth. In detail:
bdtronic grew sales by 48% yoy to € 26.0m along with a slight EBITDA margin
improvement by 0.2pp to a solid 14.4%. Driven by the strong top-line
growth, EBITDA rose by 50% yoy to € 3.7m. This result was carried by strong
demand for bdtronics’ dispensing and trickle impregnation technology, used
for the impregnation of electric motors in e-vehicles.
Vecoplan's revenues fell by 1.8% yoy to € 46.2m, caused by the Recycling /
Waste and Wood / Biomass division, which continued to fall short of
expectations due to the ongoing reluctance of customers to invest. EBITDA
fell by 14.5% yoy to € 5.7m, with a margin of 12.5% (Q3 2022: 14.3%).
Amongst the other subsidiaries, AIM micro stood out positively: sales
increased by c. 23% yoy to € 1.6m while EBITDA rose disproportionately by
34% up to € 0.7m, due to economies of scale.
Q3 group order intake fell by c. 31% yoy to € 78m, with the book-to-bill in
the third quarter arriving at only 0.72x, which reflects a more cautious
customer base across almost all subsidiaries. Order intake was particularly
soft for Vecoplan (-23% yoy to € 38.3m), NSM + Jücker (-61% yoy to € 6.9m)
and Elwema (-69% yoy to € 5.1m), reflecting macro uncertainties and order
postponements. Order backlog of the continuing operations fell by c. 12% to
€ 267m.
MAX confirmed its FY23e guidance of € 410m to € 470m sales (eNuw: € 444m)
and € 38m to € 44m EBITDA (eNuW: € 43.9m). This appears sensible, in our
view, as it implies a flat yoy topline development and a 3.5% margin in Q4
2023 at mid-point. The due diligence for a potential divestment of MA micro
is still ongoing. A successful transaction would uncover hidden value and
thus serve as a major share price catalyst, in our view. Reiterate BUY with
a new PT of € 7.30 (old: € 7.40) based on DCF.

Q3 review: too cheap to ignore resilience
Total sales grew slightly by 4% yoy to € 208m (eNuW: € 215m) thanks to
MLP’s diversified sales mix.
Growth was recorded in the areas of Non-Life Insurance (€ 34m, +16% yoy;
eNuW: € 36m), Interest Income (€ 18m, +259% yoy; eNuW: € 17m), Old-Age
Provision (€ 51m, +3% yoy; eNuW: € 52m) and Health Insurance (€ 15m, 14%
yoy; eNuW: € 14m) offset the decline in Real-Estate (€ 4m; -72% yoy; eNuW:
€ 7m), where especially Real-Estate Brokerage (€ 3.4m, -51% yoy) and
Development (€ 1m, -88% yoy) came in soft. Accordingly, the Loans and
Mortgages business also experienced declines with sales of € 3.3m (-29%
yoy), even though a sequential improvement was observed (+7% qoq).
On the other hand, the field of Wealth Management (€ 78m sales, -1% yoy;
eNuW: 79m) remained weak due to burdened capital markets. Consequently, AuM
also decreased qoq by € 3.4bn to € 55.9bn due to net capital outflows of €
0.4bn and capital market related negative valuation effects of € 3bn.
EBIT came in better than expected at € 7.8m (3.4% EBIT margin, -0.3pp yoy;
eNuW: € 7.4m), especially driven by the improved interest result of € 12.5m
(eNuW: € 12m), but also burdened by higher personnel expenses (+16% yoy) as
well as other OPEX (+6% yoy). Despite the significantly increased cost
base, EBIT decreased only slightly by 4% yoy.
Nevertheless, we expect the EBIT guidance of € 75-85m to be well in reach
(eNuW: € 80m) thanks to the ongoing support from the interest result, but
more importantly due to a strong Q4 (“OldAge Provision quarter”). Q4
typically generates 25-30% of FY sales, as well as 35-45% of FY EBIT, which
is mainly driven by sales from OldAge Provisions while not incurring
additional OpEx.
All in all, MLP continues to deliver in all market environments. Its
diversified business shows superb resilience against macro-headwinds and
the stock is too cheap to ignore at current levels (21.5% FCFY23e, 4.5x
EV/EBIT vs. 7.7x average FY’2022 and a 5.5% dividend yield, based on
estimated DPS of € 0.26), in our view.
Hence, we confirm our BUY recommendation with unchangend PT of € 11.00,
based on FCFY24e and SOTP.

First Berlin Equity Research has published a research update on Deutsche
Rohstoff AG (ISIN: DE000A0XYG76). Analyst Simon Scholes reiterated his BUY
rating and decreased the price target from EUR 50.00 to EUR 47.00.
Abstract:
New wells helped DRAG post record sales and EBITDA numbers in Q3/23. While
we expect 2023 investment of €182m to exceed the sum of CAPEX for the
previous three years, we forecast that strong cashflows and profits will
limit the rise in 2023 year-end net gearing to a manageable 58.8% (2022:
33.0%). On the basis of management's 2024 CAPEX guidance of €50m (subject
to upward revision if commodity prices remain firm) and current futures
strips, we expect volume and EBITDA to climb by 7.5% and 6.0% respectively
next year, but net gearing to fall to 16.6%. We maintain our Buy
recommendation but have reduced the price target from €50.0 to €47.0 to
reflect a 6% decline in the average level of the January 2024 to December
2028 oil futures strip since our last update of 25 October.
Oktober
widerzuspiegeln.

Analyst: Matthias Greiffenberger, Marcel Schaffer
Good first half-year. The focus on the core business model is paying off.
Forecast confirmed.
In the first half of 2023, revenues amounted to €17.81 million, signaling a
slight 7.5% decline compared to the same period in the previous year of
€19.25 million. This decline is primarily associated with the impact of the
'discontinued operations' of Be Health S.p.A. and Health Property S.p.A.,
which represent the two segments Nutraceutical and Real Estate.
The core segment of promotion and services ('Servizi Health Care')
experienced a robust growth of 6.9%, reaching €11.16 million (PY: €10.44
million). Meanwhile, the customer support segment ('Support Health Care')
exhibited substantial growth, increasing by 10.0% to €1.93 million (PY:
€1.75 million). This shows that the introduction of a multi-channel
distribution model, coupled with continuous investments in technological
advancements, notably within the healthcare and telemedicine sector, has
been instrumental in driving the noteworthy results achieved over the
initial six months of the year. However, the health benefits segment
('Servizi Sanitari') saw a notable decline of 23.3%, amounting to €4.72
million (PY: €6.15 million). The drop in revenues for this segment can be
largely attributed to accounting periods, and we anticipate that growth
will stabilize and normalize over the course of the entire year.
In terms of cost management, the company has shown significant improvements
in various key categories. Costs for services experienced a notable
decrease, moving from €-13.07 million euros to €-12.05 million, which
amounts to roughly 7.81% in cost savings. Staff costs also saw a
significant reduction of approximately 13.47%, declining from €-2.64
million to €-2.29 million. This cost-saving was attributed mainly to
outsourcing of IT services.
The adjusted EBITDA, standing at €3.27 million, experienced a slight
increase of 2.7% compared to the gross operating margin in the first half
of the preceding year (€3.18 million). The adjusted EBITDA margin now
stands at 18.4% of net revenues, which signifies a growth of approximately
2 percentage points when compared to the first half of 2022 (16.5%). This
commendable result is an outcome of increased margins within the core
business and the effective cost-saving measures implemented by the Group.
The adjustment to EBITDA is prompted by the fact that these effects do not
stem from regular business operations and are issues expected to be
mitigated in the medium term. The one-time impact is primarily associated
with the acquisition of real estate in connection with an NPL deal.
The unadjusted EBITDA, encompassing various miscellaneous costs and charges
('Altri costi e oneri diversi') and other income (“Altri Ricavi e Proventi
diversi”), contracted by 37.8%, reaching €2.87 million compared to the
prior year's €4.61 million. This reduction led to a decrease in the EBITDA
margin, which now stands at 16.1% as opposed to the previous year's 24.0%.
This variance is primarily attributed to an extraordinary gain stemming
from a real estate transaction in 2022.
The net result for the period indicates a profit of €1.52 million, in
contrast to the same period in 2022 when a profit of €2.29 million was
recorded.
In the first half of 2023, the Group continued its successful journey,
achieving positive results, notably in profitability. Their commitment to a
multi-channel distribution model, ongoing technological innovation,
streamlined core activities, and cost control remained unwavering.
Regarding the nutraceutical segment, Health Italia has chosen to
discontinue its direct management of this segment in order to refocus on
its core businesses, maintaining an indirect involvement through equity
participation. As part of this decision, Be Health has approved a capital
increase, resulting in a dilution of Health Italia's ownership to less than
50%. Furthermore, Health Italia is proactively investing in the enhancement
of their digital platforms, paving the way for significant improvements in
service quality and operational efficiency. These in-house platforms are
poised to streamline workflows, ultimately bolstering operational
effectiveness.
Moreover, Health Italia is pursuing an expansion of its sales and
distribution model. Leveraging its existing sales channels, including
banking and external networks, the company is now keen to broaden its
market reach by introducing an online sales channel. This multi-pronged
approach will diversify their customer base, making their services
accessible to a broader clientele.
This strategic realignment, guided by Health Italia's core competencies and
market demands, positions the company for substantial growth in the years
ahead. It underscores their adaptability and unwavering commitment to
leading the healthcare sector by evolving to meet the dynamic needs of
their clients.
Health Italia S.p.A.'s guidance for 2023-2026 centers on reinforcing its
financial structure and optimizing key performance indicators. This
guidance aligns with the group's ESG principles and emphasizes
reinvestment, cost-saving, and sustainability. By 2026, Health Italia aims
to achieve revenues ranging from €50.0 to €52.0 million, an EBITDA within
the €12.0 to €14.0 million range, and a positive net financial position.
The half-year results affirm that our forecast is on track, and we reaffirm
our confidence in it. Due to the company's strategic shift towards core
business operations, leading to exits from the nutraceutical and real
estate sectors, we anticipate a slight decline in revenue for 2023 at €38.2
million. As the company refocuses solely on its core business in the
subsequent year, we anticipate a growth of 8.6%, resulting in estimated
revenues of €41.58 million in the year 2024. Our projections are consistent
with the company's guidance, anticipating a fairly stable growth
trajectory. In our discounted cash flow (DCF) model, we forecast revenues
reaching €50.31 million and an EBITDA of €13.12 million by 2026.
As the company renews its focus on its core business, we anticipate a
consistent upswing in profit margins. Notably, the promotional and service
segment, already recognized for its high margins, has demonstrated even
stronger profitability in the past. We believe that the revised strategy
will empower the management to progressively regain and potentially surpass
their previous levels of success. For 2023, we foresee an EBITDA of €6.58
million, reflecting an EBITDA margin of 17.2%. Furthermore, we predict a
steady rise in EBITDA and margin in the ensuing years. Our projections
indicate an EBITDA of €7.77 million and an EBITDA margin of 18.7% for 2024.
The financial charges are expected to decrease due to the repayment of the
convertible bond. We also project a gradual decrease in the company's
financial obligations over the years. Consequently, we anticipate that the
net result will follow a trajectory similar to EBITDA, albeit with more
pronounced margin improvements. After achieving a net result of €3.7
million in 2022, we expect figures of €3.07 million in 2023 and €4.04
million in 2024.
We maintain our confidence in the forecast and valuation, consequently
reiterating our target price of €4.00 and a Buy rating.

First Berlin Equity Research has published a research update on Deutsche
Effecten- und Wechsel- Beteiligungsgesellschaft AG (ISIN: DE0008041005).
Analyst Christian Orquera reiterated his BUY rating and maintained his EUR
1.80 price target.
Abstract:
DEWB has published its financial statement for H1/23. Overall results were
roughly as expected. The company reported no revenues and EBIT of €-0.4m
(FBe: €-0.5m; H1/22: €-0.5m). Interest expenses rose to €0.4m (FBe: €0.3m;
H1/22: €0.2m) chiefly due to higher ST borrowings (H1/23: €8.1m vs YE/22:
€5.2m). On 30 June, the company succeeded in refinancing the expiring €15m
4% 5-year bond with a new €6.6m 8% 5-year bond (2023/2028). As the
company's credit line has much better terms than the bond, the company has
now shifted part of its total debt to the credit line with its principal
bank. DEWB's current credit limit amounts to €9.0m, so that the company
still has financing scope of ~€0.9m. With this amount, operations can be
financed for ~one year, during which time a holding exit should take place.
The company is still guiding for an exit before YE23. The net result came
in at €-0.8m (FBe: €-0.8m; H1/22: €-0.7m). According to management, apart
from the two troubled neobrokers which show signs of recovery, the
remaining companies from DEWB's investment portfolio have healthy
operations and have performed satisfactorily despite the current
challenging market environment: 1) DEWB's core investment LAIQON expanded
its assets under management to €6bn and is on track to achieve break-even
by the end of 2023, even without performance fees. Importantly, LAIQON
recently entered into a memorandum of understanding for a cooperation
agreement with Union Investment Group. A joint product using LAIQON/LAIC's
AI-based asset management approach will be established for distribution by
Union Investment among its customers in the cooperative financial network
(Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken). This deal is a key milestone for LAIQON as
Union Investment is one of Germany's largest asset managers; 2) Aifinyo
maintained its profitable growth; 3) Neobroker Naga reported a third
consecutive profitable quarter following restructuring; 4) Neobroker
Nextmarkets received financial support from main investor Apeiron
(Christian Angermayer) to continue operations and merged with the data
analysis and indexing company ADRIX to strengthen its competitive position;
and 5) private holdings Stableton and Cashlink are well financed. Based on
unchanged estimates, we reiterate our Buy recommendation and price target
of €1.80.
First Berlin Equity Research hat ein Research Update zu Deutsche Effectenund
Wechsel- Beteiligungsgesellschaft AG (ISIN: DE0008041005)
(FBe: €0,5 Mio.; H1/22:
€0,5 Mio.). Die Zinsaufwendungen stiegen auf €0,4 Mio. (FBe: €0,3 Mio.;
derzeit schwierigen Marktumfelds zufriedenstellend entwickelt: 1) Das
€1,80.

9 months 2023: Three more companies acquired in 2023; High revenue and
earnings growth achieved; Slight forecast and price target adjustment;
Rating: BUY
In the third quarter of 2023, CENIT AG achieved sales growth of 9.3% to €
45.84 million (Q3 2022: € 41.95 million), thus seamlessly continuing the
previous development of the current business year 2023. In the first two
quarters, an increase in turnover of 22.7% (Q1) and 14.4% (Q2) was
achieved. In total, sales revenues of € 133.31 million (previous year: €
115.86 million) were achieved in the first nine months, which corresponds
to an increase of 15.1% compared to the previous year. A major growth
driver was the continuation of inorganic growth, which was advanced in the
current financial year by the acquisitions of mip Management Informations
Partner GmbH, PI Informatik GmbH and ACTIVE BUSINESS CONSULT. ISR
Informations Products AG was already acquired in the previous financial
year 2022, which was only consolidated from 31 May 2022, so that there is
also a base effect here. Overall, the inorganic contribution to growth is
likely to have been around 14.00 million euros according to our
calculations, which means organic growth in turnover of around 3.0%.
The strong sales growth of 9.3% was accompanied by a disproportionate
increase in EBIT of 78.1% to € 4.60 million (previous year: € 2.58
million). Although the EBIT was positively influenced by a one-time gain of
€ 0.87 million from the sale of the subsidiary CENIT Japan K.K., the
company would have achieved an EBIT increase of 44.6 % to € 3.73 million
even without this effect. On the one hand, the higher EBIT margin of the
acquired companies is likely to have had a positive effect. On the other
hand, the Sirius cost-cutting programme that has been introduced is also
likely to have made a positive contribution to earnings.
CENIT AG plans to continue the high M&A activity of the last quarters. In
this context, the company has restructured its bank liabilities and taken
out a new loan of € 40.00 million. With this loan, the existing loan of €
22.66 million was repaid. Since the acquisitions of the current financial
year were financed from the operating cash flow, the borrowing less the
dividend distribution (€ 4.18 million) and the repayment of leasing
liabilities (€ 2.83 million) led to an increase in liquid funds to € 30.07
million (31.12.22: € 19.91 million). The company thus has sufficient
financial leeway to opportunistically acquire further companies.
With the publication of the nine-month figures, CENIT’s management has
confirmed the forecast for the current business year. Sales of around € 180
million and an EBIT of around € 9.5 million are still expected. Based on
the figures achieved in the first nine months, sales of around € 46.70
million and an EBIT of around € 4.90 million are expected for the fourth
quarter. While turnover is expected to remain at about the same level as in
the fourth quarter of the previous year, EBIT should improve significantly
compared to the same period of the previous year.
An increase in EBIT in the fourth quarter should be primarily related to an
expected rise in high-margin proprietary software sales. According to the
company, there were postponements of orders, which could, however, still be
realised in the current financial year. The affected order volume amounts
to approximately € 1.5 million. In addition, the positive effect from the
deconsolidation of the Japanese subsidiary should also make a slightly
positive EBIT contribution in the fourth quarter. In addition, the savings
effects from the Sirius programme should also increase earnings.
While we are keeping our revenue forecast unchanged, we are adjusting our
EBIT estimate slightly to € 9.55 million (previously: € 9.80 million).
However, we are taking into account the new loan of € 40 million in our
estimates for the first time, which will lead to higher interest expenses.
In particular, this leads to an adjustment of our estimated after-tax
results for the financial years 2024 and 2025, while we leave both the
revenue and earnings estimates for these estimation periods unchanged.
Although the funds raised are to be used for the implementation of further
M&A activities, we have not yet included them in our forecasts because they
have yet to be realised. According to company information, an acquisition
is very likely in 2023. In addition, there is currently an extensive M&A
pipeline which, if fully realised, would increase turnover by around € 70
million.
Due to the slight adjustment of the EBIT for 2023 as well as the
consideration of higher interest expenses in connection with the extensive
borrowing, our price target determined within the framework of the DCF
model is only slightly reduced to € 20.90 (previously: € 21.00). We
continue to assign the BUY rating.

Strategic alliance with Biocare Medical is a game changer
Ikonisys announced that it has entered a strategic partnership with Biocare
Medical which will take advantage of each firm’s respective strengths to
drive and deepen their leading-edge technology positions. Ikonisys, in
addition, will substantially expand its global footprint in a highly
cost-effective way, in our view. We consider the alliance with one of the
globally leading providers of cancer research and diagnostic solutions and
suppliers of world-class reagents and automated instruments for
immunohistochemistry as an accolade for Ikonisys which should support the
company's growth and profitability in the years ahead. Despite improving
fundamentals, however, Ikonisys continues to trade at a significant
discount to its intrinsic value of EUR 4.50 per share (base case scenario),
which we calculate from a three-stage DCF entity model. We reiterate our
Buy rating for the shares of Ikonisys SA.

Analyst: Simon Scholes
First Berlin Equity Research has published a research update on PSI SE
(ISIN: DE000A0Z1JH9). Analyst Simon Scholes reiterated his BUY rating and
decreased the price target from EUR 32.00 to EUR 30.00.
Abstract:
PSI's order intake climbed 25.5% to €69m (Q3/22: €55m) in Q3/23 and was up
16.1% at €238m (9M/22: €205m) after nine months. Order intake growth was
driven by the Energy Management segment - in particular the electricity
network business. Group Q3/23 sales rose 3.1% to €65.2m (Q3/22: €63.2m;
FBe: €70.5m) while EBIT came in at €2.7m (Q3/22: €6.1m; FBe: €3.0m). In
Q2/23 PSI reported an EBIT loss of €9.4m as it issued a profit warning in
connection with the underestimation of man-hours required by the Energy
Management's Redispatch 2.0 contracts. The Q3/23 EBIT margin at Energy
Management remained low at 2.2% due to poor profitability of projects taken
on in 2021 and 2022 but improved slightly on the prior year quarter's 0.2%.
The y-o-y narrowing of the group Q3/23 EBIT margin to 4.1% (Q3/22: 9.7%)
was attributable to the Production Management segment. The segment's Q3/22
figures included high license income from PSI Metals. Q3/23 license income
at PSI Metals was down y-o-y but is expected to pick up strongly in the
current quarter. Production Management's Q3/22 numbers were also helped by
grant income. There was no income from this source in Q3/23. Management is
sticking to full-year guidance of €5m-€7m in EBIT and a 10% rise in sales
and the order intake despite the fact that after nine months sales were up
only 2.7% and EBIT was €-2.7m. We think full-year guidance is achievable
because the negative impact of the Redispatch 2.0 projects will lessen in
the current quarter, the Production Management segment will receive grant
income and PSI Metals is set to book substantial licence income. We
maintain our Buy recommendation but have lowered the price target from
€32.0 to €30.0. The reduction in the price target is based on: 1) an
increase in our WACC estimate from 8.6% to 8.9% to reflect the increase in
the yield of the ten-year German government bond yield from 2.54% at the
time of our most recent note of 3 August to 2.83% currently; and 2) a
reduction in our 2024 EBIT margin estimate for the Energy Management
segment from 5.0% to 4.0%. We continue to expect the segment to cross the
10% EBIT margin threshold by 2028.
unserer letzten Studie vom 3.

First Berlin Equity Research has published a research update on Deutsche
Rohstoff AG (ISIN: DE000A0XYG76). Analyst Simon Scholes reiterated his BUY
rating and increased the price target from EUR 44.00 to EUR 50.00.
Abstract:
DRAG has raised base-case revenue and EBITDA guidance for 2023 by 20.6% and
16.7% respectively and for 2024 by 11.1% and 10.9% respectively. The new
guidance updates numbers issued in the annual report at the end of April.
The guidance increase is prompted by better than anticipated production
from ten Occidental JV wells which came online in May (this bodes well for
the Q3 results due on 31 October), the increase in the oil price since the
end of August, and by a recent bond refinancing. Better than expected
profitability and the bond refinancing have given DRAG the financial
flexibility to increase its working interest in six recently drilled 1876
Resources wells and also to bring forward the start of production at four
of these wells. We have revised up our forecasts and price target to
reflect higher volume and pricing than we previously modelled and now see
fair value for the DRAG share at €50.0 (previously: €44.0). We maintain our
Buy recommendation.

Q3e: Sequential improvements as headwinds remain; chg.
USU will report Q3 figures on 22 November, which are seen to show
sequential improvements compared to the previous quarter, especially on the
margin side. This comes despite ongoing headwinds
in connection with longer sales cycles, particularly in the license
business, which led to a weak Q2.
Sales are seen to increase 5.3% qoq to € 33.3m, implying a muted 2.0% yoy,
which however comes against a strong comparable base. The continuously
strong growth in SaaS (eNuW: +23% yoy to €
4.6m) as well as solidly growing consulting revenues (eNuW: +10% yoy to €
20.2m) look hereby set to only partly compensate for the ongoing decline in
license sales (eNuW: -65% yoy to € 1.4m).
On this basis, Q3 EBITDA is expected to come in at € 2.9m (-33% yoy),
implying a margin of 8.8% (+2pp qoq). The yoy profitability decline is
mainly explained by the combination of an increased cost
base, mainly R&D in connection with AI projects, as well as the strong
decline in license sales, which usually show higher initial margins
compared to consulting and SaaS revenues.
Mind you, declining license sales and hence a short-term margin compression
were already included in our estimates in consideration of the company’s
mid-term strategy which is to significantly increase
the share of SaaS sales to >75% until 2026. While perpetual license sales
provide higher initial margins, the SaaS payments are seen to equal the
one-time license payments (+ annual maintenance
fees) after c. 3 years, thus allowing for a significant margin expansion as
hardly any incremental costs are incurred. While 2024e should be a
transition year, we expect the switch to SaaS to start paying
off in 2025e with an EBITDA margin of +15%.
That said, the company continues to look on track to reach its mid-term
targets (until 2026e) of 10% organic sales CAGR, >25% SaaS CAGR and an
EBITDA margin in the range of 17-19% thanks to the
ongoing high pace of the SaaS transformation. On top of this, the
continuous implementation of the “One USU” strategy, which among others
aims for leaner Sales & Marketing structures, should further benefit
profitability going forward.
As shares have been down heavily since the company warned in August,
valuation appears ever more undemanding, trading at only 17.3x PE ‘24e, a
clear discount to the 2-year forward-looking average of
25.1x.
BUY, unchanged PT of € 30.00 based on DCF.

According to preliminary figures, Vectron Systems AG (short: Vectron)
achieved a significant growth in turnover and result in the third quarter,
which seamlessly continues the positive development of the previous year.
The sales revenue of € 9.4 million (previous year: € 5.7 million) generated
in the third quarter of 2023 was 63.6 % higher than in the previous year.
While the major part of the revenue growth is likely to be attributable to
acardo Group AG, which was acquired on 01.01.2023, the POS Systems segment
should also have contributed organic growth. This should be primarily due
to the expansion of the digital business, which is reflected in an increase
in recurring revenue to € 3.4 million (PY: € 1.4 million). In the third
quarter, when demand is typically slow due to seasonal factors, the
improved ability to plan the business, which has already been achieved,
meant that there was no longer a noticeable decline in both revenue and
earnings. At € 1.1 million (previous year: € -2.1 million), EBITDA was only
slightly below the EBITDA of € 1.2 million for the second quarter of 2023.
Although the quarterly result was positively influenced by the release of
provisions in the amount of € 0.4 million, both business units generated
positive EBITDA.
In the nine-month period, turnover increased significantly by 52.5 % to €
27.9 million (previous year: € 18.3 million). Recurring income rose by 47.7
% to € 9.6 million (previous year: € 6.5 million) and consequently EBITDA
also increased significantly to € 2.8 million (previous year: € -2.6
million). Overall, the 9-month EBITDA was positively influenced by special
effects amounting to € 0.9 million. On the basis of these figures, our
previous forecast for the full year 2023 (see study dated 14 September
2023), in which we assumed revenues of € 36.75 million and EBITDA of € 2.54
million, appears somewhat too low. This is particularly true in view of the
fact that the basis for recurring revenues is steadily growing with the
planned introduction of further digital modules. In addition, acardo's
couponing business should benefit from the strong consumer months,
especially towards the end of the year.
We are therefore raising our revenue estimates for the current 2023
financial year to € 38.55 million (previously: € 36.75 million).
Analogously, we expect an EBITDA of € 3.17 million (previously: € 2.54
million) and are thus within the company's recently raised earnings
guidance, according to which the Vectron management expects an EBITDA
between € 2.2 million and € 3.2 million. After consideration of the
PPA-amortisation, which is related to the acardo acquisition, Vectron AG
should show a negative EBIT of € -0.33 million (previously € -0.96
million). Adjusted for this non-cash effect, this corresponds to an EBIT of
€ 1.67 million (previously € 1.04 million).
As a result of the slight forecast increase, which is limited to the
estimates for the current financial year 2023, we have determined an only
marginally higher price target of € 10.10 (previously: € 10.00) within the
framework of the DCF valuation model. We continue to assign the BUY rating.

The importance of ore sorting and stripping ratios
After Eloro Resources published the initial mineral resource estimate (MRE)
for the Iska Iska silver-tin polymetallic project in the Bolivian Potosi
Department, the share price came under significant pressure. We believe
this was based on certain misconceptions specifically about the impact of
ore-sorting and the stripping ratio on the value of the Iska Iska project.
Ore-sorting, an innovative technology, should significantly increase
concentrator feed grades, so recovery in both the polymetallic and the tin
domain should rise significantly, allowing bulk mining techniques to be
used without resulting dilution issues. Coupled with a very low strip ratio
of 1:1, downstream processing costs will drop substantially, making Iska
Iska eventually a highly profitable mine, in our view. We reiterate our Buy
rating for the shares of Eloro Resources and calculate a fully diluted
share price target of CAD 12.70, derived from an in-situ net asset
valuation of Iska Iska’s Santa Barbara Breccia Pipe. We highlight that the
current pullback in the company’s share price is an interesting entry point
for long-term investors, in our view.
The most obvious reason for the share price development may have been the
“low” silver grades in the polymetallic domain that may have raised fears
that operating costs per tonne would not be covered. To investors
accustomed to silver values of 40 g/t and above, Eloro’s reported grades of
13.6 g/t (inferred) may indeed appear to be a shortfall. However, this
single value does not reflect that much of Iska Iska’s mineralization
occurs in veins and vein breccias. Thus ore-sorting should not only
substantially reduce operating costs by selectively removing waste
material, but also increase feed grades to the grinding circuit.
Sensor-based ore sorting works by selectively removing waste material. This
results in a major increase in grades of feed to the grinding circuit,
which (1) significantly reduces energy and operating costs and (2)
significantly increases the efficiency and life of a mining operation.
While ore-sorting does not work for all deposits (f. ex. Novagold recently
announced that ore-sorting was eliminated from its prestigious Donlin gold
project), at least 40% of the run-of-mine silver-zinc-lead (Ag-Zn-Pb)
polymetallic mineralization could be pre-rejected as waste at Iska Iska,
according to Tomra, a German based company and global leader in ore-sorting
technology. For the tin (Sn) domain, even up to 80% by weight could be
pre-rejected as sub-cut-off grade waste. Given the magnitude of Iska Iska’s
potentially open pittable polymetallic and tin resource, we believe that
metallurgical and pyrometallurgical ore-enrichment will become a critical
success factor for Eloro.

In
Kaufempfehlung.
First Berlin Equity Research has published a research update on ad pepper
media International N.V. (ISIN: NL0000238145). Analyst Dr. Karsten von
Blumenthal reiterated his BUY rating and decreased the price target from
EUR 3.50 to EUR 3.00.
Abstract:
ad pepper media (APM) has reported preliminary Q3 figures, which were below
the prior year figures, but roughly met our forecasts. Revenue declined 9%
y/y to €5.4m, and EBITDA fell 75% to €101k. Q3 EBITDA was the first
positive quarterly EBITDA figure this year and shows the positive effects
of initiated cost savings. APM is guiding towards lower Q4 revenue y/y and
positive EBITDA. Given weak macroeconomic KPIs in APM's key markets Germany
and UK, we no longer expect a rebound in revenue and earnings in Q4 and
have lowered our forecasts. We believe that the main share price driver
will be the planned purchase of a >50% stake in solute and the subsequent
consolidation of the company. The deal would more than double APM's revenue
and create a leading listed player in performance marketing and digital
marketplaces (price comparison). An updated DCF model, which does not yet
factor in the planned solute consolidation, yields a new price target of
€3.00 (previously: €3.50). We confirm our Buy recommendation.

Business Development 1. HY 2023
Overall, First Tin's first half of the year marked a period of significant
strategic progress, establishing a robust foundation for future development
and production that adheres to the highest environmental standards and
satisfies the growing demand for responsibly sourced tin. The company
achieved substantial operational milestones, advancing key workstreams at
Tellerhäuser and Taronga.
Project Advancements and Regulatory Milestones: The thorough review
conducted by the Saxonian Mining Authority has confirmed the suitability of
First Tin's plans for the Tellerhäuser project. This endorsement has led to
a noteworthy reduction in the overall permitting timeline, potentially
shortening it by 12-18 months.
ESG-Focused Approach and Strategic Endorsement: Central to the Tellerhäuser
project is First Tin's unwavering commitment to environmental, social, and
governance (ESG) principles. The company has meticulously crafted a
comprehensive plan for Tellerhäuser, prioritizing minimal ecological impact
during both construction and production phases. This responsible approach
aligns seamlessly with First Tin's strategic goal of delivering an
ESG-compliant tin source to meet the growing demand for this crucial metal
across Europe and beyond.
Taronga DFS progress
The Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) for the Taronga project in Australia
continues to gather momentum, marked by significant achievements:
Renewable Energy Collaboration: Entering agreements with BID Energy
Partners to conduct a renewable energy feasibility study, aimed at reducing
power costs and providing crucial support for permitting processes.
Exploration Milestones: Successful completion of confirmatory drilling and
exploration activities, which not only confirmed the characteristics of
mineralization but also expanded the project's potential.
Tin Beetle Prospect Discovery: The exciting discovery of the Tin Beetle
prospect, further substantiating the broader tin district hypothesis and
adding to the project's overall prospectivity.
Expanded Exploration License: TMPL has submitted an application for a
substantial Exploration License, consolidating control over historically
significant tin-producing areas.
Resource Size Augmentation: Positive outcomes from crushing testwork, along
with a substantial increase in the Taronga resource size, as reported in
the post-period end.
Cost-Efficient Processing Solution: Identification of a cost-effective
processing option for tin mineralization at the Taronga asset.
Looking ahead, First Tin remains steadfast in its commitment to deliver the
DFS studies for both the Taronga and Tellerhäuser assets. These milestones
are slated for completion in Q1 2024 and Q3 2024, respectively, marking
significant steps towards realizing the full potential of these projects.
In light of the positive developments, we reaffirm our valuation and price
target of GBP 0.57 and confidently assign a Buy rating.

First Berlin Equity Research has initiated coverage on Sernova Corp (ISIN:
CA81732W1041). Analyst Christian Orquera's rating is BUY with a price
target of CAD3.80 (USD2.80; €2.60).
Abstract:
Sernova Corp (Sernova) is a Canadian, clinical-stage biotech company
developing cell therapeutics towards 'functional cures' for chronic
debilitating diseases based on its proprietary Cell Pouch SystemT
technology platform. The Cell Pouch device is unique. Once implanted deep
under the skin of the abdomen, it creates an 'organ-like' vascularised
tissue matrix environment where therapeutic cells can thrive upon
transplant. The ultimate goal in the lead type 1 diabetes indication (T1D)
is curing the disease. The first generation product (1G - Cell Pouch +
donor cells + immunosuppression) in phase 1/2 for T1D showed (I) In cohort
1, the first five patients achieved insulin independence for periods of ~6
months to >~3.5 years, and (II) in cohort 2 with a larger Cell Pouch (>50%
more capacity), the first assessed patient demonstrated persistent serum
C-peptide levels after only one islet transplant. This is a remarkable
result as in cohort 1 using the smaller device this happened only after the
2nd implant. The company will publish a further update during Q4 2023. The
supply of donor cell islets is scarce. Therefore, Sernova is developing a
2nd generation product which replaces donor cells with induced pluripotent
stem cell-derived islets. Sernova's strategic partner, Evotec, will produce
an unlimited supply of best-in-class insulin-producing islets. We
anticipate this programme will start patient enrolment for phase 1/2
clinical trials in 2025. Long-term immunosuppression use has risks (e.g.
cancer). Sernova is thus developing a preclinical 3G product using
conformal coating (CC) technology licensed from the University of Miami
(and others) that could provide optimal immunoprotection and ultimately
lead to a cure for all T1D patients. The recent CC progress update was
encouraging. We believe this combination product candidate could enter
phase 1/2 clinical studies in 2026. An additional Cell Pouch-based
preclinical programme in postoperative hypothyroidism is also scheduled to
enter the clinic in H2 2024. If successful, the four combination product
candidates could reach the market by 2028-2032 and we project combined
sales potential of >USD15bn. We anticipate that positive news flow from the
pipeline, particularly from the ongoing phase 1/2 T1D study, CC progress
details at the upcoming IPITA conference on 26-29 October 2023, and the
initiation of the hypothyroidism phase 1/2 study planned for 2024 will add
substantial value to Sernova and act as catalysts for the stock. Based on
our SOTP valuation model, we initiate coverage of Sernova with a Buy rating
and a CAD3.80 (USD2.80; €2.60) price target.
First Berlin Equity Research hat am 19.10.2023 die Coverage von Sernova
Corp. (ISIN: CA81732W1041/ Bloomberg: SVA CN) aufgenommen. Analyst
Cell Pouch SystemT-Technologieplattform entwickelt.
Vorrat an erstklassigen insulinproduzierenden Inselzellen herstellen.

Upgrading LGL’s project size to 33.6 sq km
After the acquisition of a further 2,400 acres, significantly enhancing the
total project size of Rover Metals’ most promising asset Let’s Go Lithium
(LGL) to approximately 8,300 acres or 33.6 sq km, we reiterate our Buy
rating for the shares of Rover Metals. However, the significant upgrade in
LGL’s project size is counteracted by the recent slump in LCE prices.
Hence, we reduce our probability weighted net asset value based price
target to CAD 0.75 from CAD 0.92 per share. Our price target is based
solely on the speculative lithium resources of the LGL project, other
assets were not included in our valuation, representing a potential bonus
to our NAV calculation. We not only highlight that the current pullback in
the company’s stock price—in-line with the general weakness of the explorer
sector—could be an interesting entry point for long-term investors. We also
believe that this undervalued, below the radar flying company is an
attractive investment and expect it to re-rate as it aggressively explores
and expands resources at its LGL project.
Rover Metals has acquired a further 2,400 acres (ca. 9.7 sq km) of new
claims to its Let's Go lithium (LGL) project in the prolific southwest
lithium area in the U.S. state of Nevada, upgrading the total project size
by ~41% to approximately 8,300 acres (33,6 sq km). Situated in close
proximity to the world-class Albemarle Silver Peak mine, the only producing
lithium mine in North America, and near the Tesla Gigafactory in Nevada,
Rover Metals has verified high-grade lithium surface samples at the project
in the past, including surface grab samples with up to 930 ppm lithium.
The seller of the property is the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
According to the company, the US-governmental organization sold the land
for total costs of USD 25,000, mainly for staking and filing. According to
the company, 75% of this new ground is free and clear of any underlying
royalties.
Since Rover Metals plans to explore only to the top of the hydrologic water
flow system, the additional claims are of considerable high value to Rover
Metals, in our view, (1) because the water table in this area is at least
twice as deep as in the rest of the area, so Rover Metals will be able to
add twice as many tonnes to a future resource estimate, compared to the
existing claims, and (2) because the highest lithium grades in sedimentary
claystone are typically found in deeper regions.

First Berlin Equity Research has published a research update on Valneva SE
(ISIN: FR0004056851). Analyst Simon Scholes reiterated his BUY rating and
maintained his EUR 8.90 price target.
Abstract:
Both Q2/23 revenues and adjusted EBITDA were above our and consensus
forecasts and management has reiterated full-year product revenue guidance
of €130-€150m which implies that the previous pre-pandemic high of €129.5m
(2019) will be beaten. The share price has fallen below €6.00 on fears that
interest rates will remain elevated for longer than the market had
previously hoped. Valneva's VLA1553 will be the first chikungunya vaccine
to launch (estimated value of the chikungunya vaccine market: USD500m by
2032), if, as we expect, it receives FDA approval by the end of November.
VLA1553's data (time to onset of immunity, duration of antibody resistance)
compares favourably with that of the closest competing chikungunya vaccine
candidate, Bavarian Nordic's CHIKV VLP, which is not scheduled to launch
until 2025. We think the approval of VLA1553 will trigger a rally in the
stock, which will gather pace in early 2024 as the market begins to focus
on the prospects for an eventual decline in interest rates. We maintain our
Buy recommendation and price target of €8.90.

First Berlin Equity Research has published a research update on ad pepper
media International N.V. (ISIN: NL0000238145). Analyst Dr. Karsten von
Blumenthal reiterated his BUY rating and maintained his EUR 3.50 price
target.
Abstract:
Last week, ad pepper media (APM) and seven shareholders of solute Holding
GmbH & Co. KG (solute) signed a purchase agreement for 25.64% of solute
shares (purchase price: ca. €4m). APM will finance the purchase by issuing
almost 1.7m new shares against contribution in kind. The first step of the
transaction has thus been completed. APM now plans to acquire further
solute shares to gain a majority stake to be able to consolidate the
company. solute, a leading price comparison portal business in the German
market (billiger.de and shopping.de), has more than 170 employees,
generated €33m in revenue and EBITDA of €2.0m in the past financial year.
The deal would more than double APM's revenue and create a leading listed
player in performance marketing and digital marketplaces (price
comparison). We believe that the advertising technology (adtech) company
solute, with its broad digital marketing know-how and strong competitive
position in the German price comparison portal market, is a good fit for
APM, and expect the deal to be value-accretive. For the time being, we
stick to our stand alone APM forecasts and valuation. We confirm our Buy
rating and the €3.50 price target.
